Reflection on posters


Today in Digital class we learnt about the different methods of advertising, different media , what each one is and different audiences for each media . Last week we also watched a video about the all the  medias that are used for advertising.We then learnt about each media and there disadvantages and advantages and a small introduction about  their differences. Another thing we learnt was the different audiences  and the audience of each media and how the audience are targeted by the media.For my group we did television. We drew a family watching the television and enjoying it.We then wrote a small paragraph that talked about the different audiences it targets.It also talked about  the audiences that watch it and how the advertisements that come on the television immediately target the audience .We also showed some advantages about advertising on the TV and the benefits that you can get from advertising on television, however we also talked about the disadvantages of advertising on television and how you may not always succeed by advertising on it.The rest of the class did posters on the different medias that are shown below.

My favorite Poster was the one presented By Rania, Kiyara and Anishka. The reason I liked it was that it had a lot of information and that they  had an excellent presentation. It  also was very presentable,they also added the advantages and disadvantages of each media .The thing I think they can improve on was maybe putting more illustrations to describe the topic, but other than that I thought it was one of the best presentations and was the one that stood out the most.

Advertisements

Association :This ad has connected the lipstick with a beautiful model which is why I put it with association. The unique thing is that it used a very famous celebrity to attract the audience. The first thing that came to my mind was the lipstick they were advertising and how beautiful the actor looked with the lipstick. 

Humor :This ad used humor by making their product talk which delivers humor to the audience which mostly attracts young kids but the unique thing is that it used personification to attract the audience. The first thing that came to mind is the feeling of hunger and interest about the product.

Sense Appeal: This ad has used sense appeal by giving a close up of their product. The unique thing about it is that they put a small slogan to attract people. The first thing I thought of is the taste of the burger in my mouth and imagining myself eating it.
Fear: This ad shows fear by warning people about the horrific disease cholesterol. The first thing that comes to my mind  when I see the ad is how crucial this situation is. And the unique thing about this ad is that it questions the audience and is reasonably straight forward.

Claim: The first thing that comes to my mind is that pampers is the most reliable company. The unique thing about it is that it mentions all the information you need to know about the product and the reason. The reason it is claim is because it informs you about how it works and how it can help you
Must-Have: The first thing that comes to me is that the product has great results that should be a great reason for me to buy it. The unique thing about is that it mentions its contents .The reason it is a must have ad is  that it shows its results which then shows to people that they must have the product 












Special Ingredients:The first thing that comes to my mind is how tasty and tempting the chips look and how simple yet tasty they are. This makes me think about the feeling I get when I eat chips in real life; happiness and pleasure. The unique thing about this ad is that it shows the ingredients of the product and it also shows how simple but yummy the product is.The reason it is a special ingredient ad is that it shows the ingredients of the product so it can show how simple it is to the audience.
Testimonials and endorsements: The first thing that comes to my mind is that if Katy Perry herself enjoys and recommends this food, then it must be of very good quality and very tasty. This will encourage me to try this new product because I know that it must be very good  for a very famous celebrity to promote and encourage people to try it.And the unique thing about it is they got a famous celebrity to convince the audience about purchasing the product.The reason this ad is testimonials and endorsements is because it got Katy Perry to be in their advertisement so it may show people how even celebrities encourage their product.

Call to action:This ad is a call to action ad because it call people to action by telling them to  Own their product now.The first thing that comes to my mind is  to go and purchase the product and find out more about it since it encourages to own the product now. The unique thing about it was how they called the people to action in the ad which can create a great change in the amount of customers interested in the product.
Games and activities:This ad is a game and activity ad because it is a game and is encouraging for people to download.The unique thing about the ad is it showed a part of the game and showed how to play it on the ad to be able to attract the audience to get the game.The first that came to my mind was how there are a big variety of ages that play this game and also the way you can get encouraged by just seeing the ad.
Hype:This ad is a hype ad because it is using exiting and amazing words.The unique thing about this ad is that it used descriptive words to attract the audience to the product.The first thing that came to my mind was how tasty and tempting that sandwich looked I was also imagining the taste of it  with all its contents.

Repetition:This ad is a repetition ad because it is repeating the  same thing more than once.The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the ad was the feeling of excitement and encouragement form the ad  .The unique thing about it is to attract the people it repeated the concept so the audience can remember it they also put the text in different sizes so it may attract the audience.

Reflection on my digital design lesson

Today we started the lesson by giving a summary of what we did last week in the past lesson.We talked about how we  got introduced to our new  unit advertisements and factors of advertising.And today we went into more detail about all the different advertisements and the contents and factors of each one.We first watched two ads that talked about how union is strength and how when you are cooperating with other people it will lead you to success rather than being alone and independent.The first ad showed a big crowd of crabs and then there was a bird that was aiming to attack them so they gathered up and tore all the bird's feathers that then showed us how when they worked together they defeated the bird.The second ad showed a whole bunch of ants walking then an elephant tried to suck one of them but they then worked together to save the ant.We then watched another ad of Mcdonalds world wide. This ad showed how they strongly used celebration  in the making of the ad. For example there was one that was Malaysian it showed two grandparents in the airport  waiting for there daughter and when she came they saw there grandchildren for the first time so they then went to eat in Mcdonalds to celebrate there arrival.The last ad was about the safety of seat belts. It showed a family of three (father, mother and daughter) who were imagining to be in a car while the father was driving.He was looking back at his daughter so he did not see that there was an obstacle nearing him before they can collide. His wife and daughter then rushed and became his seatbelt and saved him from falling down and possibly dying. In this ad, they used the technique slow-motion to emphasize to the audience how life - changing a seatbelt can be .Last but not least, we then continued to investigate different types of advertisements.

Advertising is a technique that is used for informing people about things such as games, objects, jobs, programs, places and sales in shops.Advertisements always have an objective or a target for it like for example a shop could be a promotion or have realized new products they their objective from the advertisements would be to encourage people to come to their shops they could also be trying to persuade them and convince them to go to their shop.Advertisements play a big role in the world today with out advertisements a company can hardly run because without advertisements people wouldn't buy there products which will then lead them to losing there prophets and also losing a big part of their marketing.You can find advertisements any where on the radio, newspapers, TV, roads and magazines and sometimes you could find them on public transportations like taxis or metros.

Singularity
As most people world wide have known, advertising is a field of arts, which requires a lot of creativity. To have an amazing advertisement, it should have at least one thing that is different than  all the other advertisements. Something innovative and creative that can make your advertisement different than all the others, but it should still be something that can catch the eye immediately.
Example: Cadbury Milk’s advertisement won around 1,148,700 viewers, which then lead them to fame and success.The advertisement was generally about how an employee, who was listening to the radio then eats  the chocolate which then cheers him up and he starts dancing and gets almost the whole office dancing with him on their office chairs all over the office. The main point of the advertisement was that when you eat cadbury chocolate it makes you extremely cheerful that you jump from extreme happiness.Until today, people still continue watching it. This is a usual concept that happens with all the advertisements but the advertisement was shown with creativity skills that really showed the way  the advertisement was unique.


Psyche and behavior
Advertising is a way  of public communication.To be able to accomplish a successful advertisement it requires a lot of information and research  about the psyche of the audience and their behavior towards the advertisement.This then helps organizations and companies to create and organize advertisements that will then be prosperous and will open an opportunity for the company to have a better reputation.In addition to that, psychology is an essential factor  that is a turning point between if it will be attractive  to the audience watching it or will it be discouraging to them. It also depends a lot on humans and the human’s behavior towards the advertisement.

So psychology is an important factor which has an extraordinary affect on the advertising field. An astounding advertisement has to be catchy and attractive, so that it the audience can then remember it for a long period of time.When people feel the emotions in the advertisements like: happy, sad, excited, discouraged,funny, it would would then help them remember it for a longer period of time.An example  of this could be: Cadbury has made various advertisement that fit different careers like:
  • Hair Dressers
  • Employees in offices                


Innovative ways of advertisement presentation
To be able to drag people’s attention, your advertisement should be done using media that will suit the product  or the category of the product. You should also think about the suitable media to target the audience you would like to target the product to. For example: the company Reckitt Benckiser advertised the new Dettol kids soap in schools  through health and hygiene presentations, Dettol home through Television visual advertisements, Dettol handpacks  and through public social media. In addition to that Reckitt Benckiser has advertised all its youth  products onto Facebook, since it is the most attractive social media today. In conclusion, it is always important to choose the suitable media so it will easily direct your message to the correct audience immediately.


Contents of advertising 
Different companies world wide use the skill of advertising to promote their products that they produce and also advertise their company itself to get a better reputation.
Here are 5 significant types of contents that can direct your advertisement’s message to the audience:
  • Mode of action on how the product works
  • Idols showing why people should prefer this certain product 
  • A representative or famous celebrity showing how the product connects him or her in their personal lives 
  • Powerful or convincing parallel, when there is something coextensive that is shown in an analogy or metonymy to direct the point directly to the audience 
  • The selling point the most interesting point for the consumer in the product 
These are only some of the suitable methods for creating the right contents for the advertisement of your company’s product,but you should always choose the correct and appropriate content for your advertisement that will summarize the full message so that the message will directly target the audience as soon as they watch the product’s advertisement. Example: Western  Union got an Egyptian singer (Amr Diab) and got him in their company’s advertisement so he could explain his connection with the company.

Brand Reputation and Background 
The success of the advertisement depends on on the consumer’s background on the product’s category or the brand of the product it self.
  • So if the consumer used another brand from the same category the advertisement must surprise the consumer with a magnificent picture of the brand and very attractive positioning .
  • If the product is creating a new category to the consumer so the advertisement must convince the viewers by the benefits of the new category. 
  • If both the category and the product are well known to the consumer the advertisement must create an unforgettable recommendation by linking the product to special memories or events.

Provincial Urbanity 
Each advertisement is created according to the country’s culture and language it is created in.Example: Dettol advertisements are made with a lot of different languages such as Hindu, Arabic and English.Because it is created in the U.A.E all the advertisements should be created in more than one different language.

Teasers
Teasers are used to introduce advertisements  and to attract people to watch it. Teasers  get the audience to become curious and eager to watch the advertisement and to purchase the product that is being advertised . This then produces an outstanding  effect to the amount of viewers watching the product’s advertisement.

An aspect of amazement 
Creating an advertisement has three main elements psychology, targeting the message to the audience and provincial urbanity all these elements are mostly diversified but they still won’t bring total success but with an aspect of amazement from psychology or provincial urbanity the advertisement will get acquisitive results to the company
